The theme for this years Black History Month is\u00a0“African Americans and the Arts”. The focus will be on celebrating the impact Black Americans have had on visual arts, music & cultural movements so I thought I’d highlight some of the resources I’ve made that fit the theme. They are all in my Teachers Pay Teachers store<\/a> as that’s where most of my American customers shop but you’ll find some in the store here too (click the photos).<\/p>\n

Famous black artists collaborative colouring posters<\/strong><\/p>\n

This one is perfect for this year’s theme. An easy, fun and engaging collaborative project for the class which creates eye-catching classroom display or bulletin board for Black History Month. There are 16 designs featuring famous black artists and their artwork.\u00a0Illustrations are greyscale line art so you can colour, paint or decorate them as desired.\u00a0Two sizes are included:\u00a08.5\u201d x 22\u201d Tile of two letter pages and\u00a017\u201d x 44\u201d Tile of eight letter pages (2×4). Also included is a colouring guide for each poster which features a photo of the artist, their featured artwork and a colour-by-numbers guide. It also provides context of the overall image if you divide the pages between students.<\/span><\/dd>\n

These popular colouring pages\u00a0feature the artwork and famous quotes of the famous black artists:\u00a0Jean-Michel Basquiat,\u00a0Amy Sherald,\u00a0Lois Mailou Jones,\u00a0William H Johnson,\u00a0Kehinde Wiley,\u00a0Elizabeth Catlett,\u00a0Harriet Powers,\u00a0Jacob Lawrence,\u00a0Edmonia Lewis,\u00a0Romare Bearden,\u00a0Alma Thomas and\u00a0Faith Ringgold. A great resource for artist study or just something fun for early finishers this month.\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

There are so many great African American singer\/songwriters that is was hard to know where to stop \u2014 hopefully I’ve drawn your favourite in these 37 fun, colourful classroom posters.
