Looking for fun and easy ways to help kids celebrate Black History Month? Here’s a roundup of the all the printable resources I have made; coloring pages, bulletin board displays, biography activities, posters and a timeline. They are available for purchase from my Teachers Pay Teachers store.
Black resistance (Black History Month 2023 theme)
I was inspired by 2023’s theme, black resistance, to create a collaborative colouring bulletin board display and coloring pages celebrating important figures in the history of black resistance. They feature famous and important abolitionists and civil rights leaders from 1830 to now. Inspired by iconic photos of civil rights protests, the people are linking arms in front of protest signs of each era.
Colouring pages
Celebrating famous black artists
I have made posters, collaborative colouring displays and colouring pages that feature famous black artists like Jean Michel Basquiat, Kara Walker, Jacob Lawrence, Faith Ringgold, Kehinde Wiley, Alma Thomas, William H. Johnson, Lois Mailou Jones, Amy Sherald and more.
Posters
I have made three types of posters for Black History Month.
- Famous people series: famous artists, scientists, politicians, civil rights leaders and entertainers
- Quote posters: famous people with one of their quotes
- Timeline
